Carolyn A. Freebury

Carolyn Freebury has been with Planning & Zoning News since 1983. When the Planning & Zoning Center moved to MSU in 2006 her role shifted to Managing Director of PZN. Experiences early in her career as Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO of Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo has been an asset in her daily interaction with PZN subscribers.

Carolyn is responsible for the daily operation and management of PZN, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, quarterly and annual reports to Federal and State agencies. She coordinates and supervises associates who work on PZN and maintains archival filing of digital and paper copy. Carolyn is the principal problem solver, and "voice of PZN"on the dozens of calls she fields each day.

Her expertise in desktop publishing includes the coordination, design and layout of the monthly magazine, Planning & Zoning News; and ongoing maintenance of the PZN subscriber database. She is responsible for the coordination and implementation of PZN marketing efforts; and handles questions and concerns from subscribers and potential subscribers.

Carolyn assisted in the development of the PZC Library database. She continues to maintain and catalogue the more than 4,000 publications and periodicals with over 300 subject topics ranging from keyhole development to lot splits to urban sprawl.

Carolyn also coordinates design and maintenance of the Planning & Zoning News Web page. She continues to work closely with Control Room Technologies of Lansing (Web site manager).

Her diverse skills, exceptional organization, and experience in business management, computer technology, and interpersonal relations bring an important and dynamic dimension to the philosophy and mission of Planning & Zoning News.
